One of the activities offered
was horseback riding.

This is the Fantasy Island
house from the TV series. --> |
Our second activity was
called "Secret Island."
We took this skiff across
a salt-water lake. |
Secret Island was a private
strand of beach where we could go snorkeling, ride a kayak, or lay in a
hammock on the beach. Eric and I tried to get on a kayak, but we ended
up tipping ourselves and the staff into the water twice! We gave up on
that and rode (and rowed) in an outrigger - hard work! |
Then another boat picked us
up for our third and final activity - snorkeling. |
Inside the boat.

Kaye took to snorkeling
like a fish to water...
That little dot way beyond
everyone else is Kaye.
|
Hello! The brown area is a
reef just below the water line. |
This little island is called
"Chinaman's Hat." Legend has it that it's the tail of a giant lizard... |
It's a bird, it's a plane,
it's... SUPER TOURIST! Ha ha! We were all watching for sea turtles - they
were everywhere. They swam around with their necks sticking out of the
water like little periscopes. |
The view was absolutely
gorgeous!
|
On the ride back, we discovered
that the bus driver was none other than Akebono's brother! (Akebono, aka
Chad Rowan, is a famous Yokozuna-level sumo wrestler.) The resemblence
is remarkable, but after Kaye checked his ID and confirmed that he was
indeed who he said he was, we had a lovely chat! It was quite a treat,
as we both are fans of Akebono. Randy was very nice and told us tales of
their family. This picture was taken when he dropped us in front of our
hotel. |
